Welcome to HOPE

The Hawaiʻi Online Portal for Education (HOPE) initiative supports teachers across Hawaiʻi to access, adapt and create digital resources for education. We invite all Hawaiʻi teachers to help in this opportunity to build momentum for positive change. Through the collaboration of stakeholders across Hawaiʻi’s educational landscape, we aim to create accessible, rich, and perpetually improving portal for education for Hawaiʻi.

Incorporating the principles of Open Educational Resources (OER), the HOPE process aims to build the capacity of our educators to use and produce free, online curriculum that is relevant, rigorous and relatable for Hawaiʻi students. Resources created through HOPE will be made available for use by teachers, students and parents to use beginning in the Summer of 2022.

The Summer 2022 Institutes

Check out one of the many opportunities HOPE is offering for Hawaiʻi teachers this Summer! Join us to explore, create, and adapt high quality content to Open Education Resources that can be freely shared with all classrooms across Hawaiʻi. We also welcome independent authors who have already created classroom content to adapt your work to our HOPE OER format! All participants will be eligible to receive up to $5000 stipends.

In celebration of Hōkūleʻa’s epic Mālama Honua Voyage, the upcoming Moananuiākea Voyage, and the decades of inspired teaching and learning offered by the Polynesian Voyaging Society, we are pleased to announce a partnership with PVS to host a Voyaging and Sustainability Institute!
